Our Residential Living Team | | | Jon Behrens Senior Director of Residential Living Education: Master of Education in Counseling and Higher Education from the University of North Texas; Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Texas A&M University What I Love About Working at WT: Working with students and student staff members on a daily basis is the best part of my job. The enthusiasm and creativity that they demonstrate daily is contagious. About Me: I began my “career” in Residence Life as a Resident Assistant at Angelo State University. I also worked as a Resident Assistant, Conference Assistant, and Hall Director at Texas A&M University. After teaching school for several years, I returned to Residence Life as the Assistant Director here at West Texas A&M University. I had the opportunity to serve as the Assistant Director and Director of Housing at Texas A&M – Commerce, before returning to WTAMU as the Senior Director. I have been the Senior Director for 12 years and truly enjoy having the opportunity to work with the fantastic students and super staff here at WTAMU. | | | David Wilson Assistant Director of Residence Life Education: Master of Arts in Postsecondary Educational Leadership, with a specialization in Student Affairs, from San Diego State University; Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a minor in Fine Arts, from Eastern New Mexico University What I Love About Working at WT: I really enjoy the people I work with and the students I interact with on a daily basis. One of the joys I get from working at WT is seeing students grow as leaders and citizens of a greater community, especially when I am a part of their growth. About Me: Originally born and raised in northern Oklahoma, my family moved around a lot during my teenage years. This experience gave me a deeper appreciation for diversity of others. With the intention of being an animator one day, I spent a lot of time drawing, painting, and learning photography. I attended the Art Institute of California in San Diego for a year studying Media Arts and Animation, only to find that my true passion was working with college students. I am an alumni member of Sigma Chi fraternity and Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, of which I am still active as an alumni volunteer. | | | Pam Fortner Assistant Director of Operations Education: Bachelor of Science in Marketing, with a minor in Business Administration/Office Management What I Love About Working at WT: I love the friendliness of everyone. The students are awesome! The best part is working with the students. I love seeing the students change, fulfill their dreams, become great members in their community and parents themselves. The life-long friendships are true blessings for me. | | | Terriann Pulliam Administrative Secretary What I Love About Working at WT: I love working with the students. | | | Ronnie Hall Area Coordinator (Centennial, Cousins, and Jarrett) Hometown: Allison, Texas Education: Master of Education in Instructional Technology from West Texas A&M University; Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from West Texas A&M University What I Love About WT: The friendliness of the students and staff is what I love most about WTAMU. I have also loved seeing the changes in the landscape of WTAMU recently. I have always thought the campus was beautiful, but with the addition of the pedestrian mall with the buffalo statue, and the new buildings and the renovations, this place looks amazing! I love showing off our campus to alumni and friends who come to visit. Why I'm Excited to be a Coordinator: I am always excited to see the success that the RAs have with their residents. I feel like I have the best job in the world, and a lot of that satisfaction comes from seeing the RAs working hard to build community, working long hours to make sure their programs are a success, and seeing the RAs having those day-to-day interactions that make a difference in their residents' experiences in the hall. The RAs truly can have a huge impact on the success of their residents' lives. | | | Jesse Jones Area Coordinator (Buff, Conner, Guenther, and Stafford) Hometown: Clayton, New Mexico Education: Master of Arts in Political Science from West Texas A&M University; Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a minor in Philosophy, from West Texas A&M University What I Love About WT: It has a hometown feel with great professors and a beautiful campus. I'm always happy to make new acquaintances! | | | Lindsey Steele Area Coordinator (Cross, Jones, and Shirley) Hometown: Bozeman, Montana Education: Master of Arts in Psychology, with a state of Texas counseling license, in progress from West Texas A&M University; Bachelor of Science in Psychology from West Texas A&M University What I Love About WT: WT is one great big family. The people here are always willing to go the extra mile to help each other out. It is a true home away from home. There is no place like it! Why I'm Excited to be a Coordinator: I love being a hall coordinator because each school year brings new residents and new opportunities. I look forward to meeting the new freshmen and to continuing to build relationships with the upperclassmen. Cross Hall is constantly full of laughter and fun. I can't imagine a better place to call home. | | | Melissa Bevins Student Office Assistant Hometown: Canyon, TX Major: Master of Arts in Counseling What I Love About WT: WT has a small-community feel among the staff, faculty, and students. It is small enough that you can really get to know people, including your professors, but still has a larger University feel because of all the wonderful services WT provides and the level of professionalism demonstrated by the staff. WT offers many great opportunities to get involved. I have been able to enjoy several diverse experiences and meet a wide variety of people during my time at WT. Many fond memories made here! What I Love About Working at the RL Office: Having been a Resident Assistant at Cousins Hall and then a Hall Coordinator at Stafford Hall, I am currently enjoying seeing another side of Residential Living and learning how things work in the office. The Res. Living staff is like my second family. Everyone loves helping students feel as at home on campus as possible. | | | Taryn Schenk Student Office Assistant Hometown: Canyon, Texas Major: Nursing What I Love About WT: I love WT because it has been a wonderful place for me to get the full college experience. I also love it because, even though it is a Division-2 college, you can still walk down the sidewalk and almost always see someone that you know. What I Love About Working at the RL Office: I love working at Residential Living because it is just like another family for me. I know I can trust each of my co-workers in absolutely everything. I have been taught so many life lessons from the Residential Living Staff. | Our Residence Hall Staff (click on each photo for staff info) | | Buff Hall | Centennial Hall | | Conner Hall | Cousins Hall | | Cross Hall | Guenther Hall | | Jarrett Hall | Jones Hall | | Shirley Hall | Stafford Hall | | | |
