Blake Gieseking
Assistant Area Coordinator

Hometown: Borger, Texas

Education: Master of Science in Psychology in progress from West Texas A&M University (anticipated May 2016); Bachelor of Science in Psychology from West Texas A&M University

What I Love About WT: I love the people at WT. The school is big enough to not know everyone, but small enough that you can really get involved and make a difference.

Why I'm Excited to be a Coordinator: Jarrett Hall has been my home for three years now. I've had the privilege of being an RA here for a year and a half, and now the Coordinator, I have a very different role in the hall and I love it! I love being able to see new people come in and feel at home when they make lifelong friends with their fellow residents and the Jarrett Hall staff. I'm just glad I get to be a part of it all!

Garrett Gill

Unit/Hall: Jarrett Units C/D

Hometown: Roswell, New Mexico

What I Love About WT: I love the general atmosphere of WT. I like that while it isn't a small school, it isn't so big that you can't know most of the people that you meet. Also, the professor are really great!

Why I Love Living On Campus: Well, I love people, so being on campus is a dream for me. I like just being able to hang out with people at all times of the day and being able to be involved in all the activities on campus.

Why I'm Excited to be an RA: I get the chance to improve people's time here on campus. College has been a great time for me, and one where I have done a lot of growing. I hope that I can help others have this kind of experience as well.

Roper Kerby
Resident Assistant

Unit/Hall: Jarrett Units Q/R

Hometown: Muleshoe, Texas

Major: Communications

What I Love About WT: WTAMU is like the Baby Bear's porridge and bed; it is perfect! If WT were any larger, it would be too impersonal; any smaller, it wouldn't be an awesome learning experience. I love everything about the West Texas A&M campus. The professors care way beyond what's expected, the campus is beautiful, and most of all the people give it heart.

Why I Love Living On Campus: When you live on campus, you are constantly surrounded by people; although sometimes frustrating and overwhelming, I would not have it any other way. Living on campus makes you grow exponentially as a person. Perhaps best of all, it almost forces friendships with people you may have nothing in common with, and in my opinion those are the best and most rewarding friendships.

Why I'm Excited to be an RA: Having the privilege of being an RA is something almost completely indescribable. I get to help people grow, and there simply is not anything more rewarding on this earth to me than that. I have the opportunity to create an environment...a home. I get to take somebody into a new place in their life and often get to help them build who they want to be, sometimes even reconstruct who they want to be. I would do anything for them.

Anthony Tanksley
Resident Assistant

Unit/Hall: Jarrett Units M/N

Hometown: Mesquite, Texas

Major: Undecided

What I Love About WT: I love how there are so many people that actually care about the well-being of others, and also that small town feel.

Why I Love Living On Campus: I hear about a lot of things that are going on at campus and I get to meet new people all of the time. I could not imagine living off campus. I REALLY like being around people and hanging out with them. Also, living in Jarrett is amazing! There are so many people who go into the lobby and chill.

Why I'm Excited to be an RA: I am so stoked to be an RA, because my own RA impacted me so much that I want to do the same for my residents. I am excited to get to know them on a personal level and help them find who they are as a person.

Scott Cooper
Resident Assistant

Unit/Hall: Jarrett Units U/V

Hometown: El Paso, Texas

Major: Social Work

What I Love About WT: The people that I have met here...who I work, play, pray, and fight alongside within a worthy cause.

Why I Love Living On Campus: I am where I want to be, with the people.

Why I'm Excited to be an RA: Growing up my friends were treated like my cousins and my cousins were like my brothers and sisters. From such a background, along with my beliefs, I have a kindred spirit that longs to make family wherever I go. Being on campus, specifically Jarrett Hall, I wish to make that the ethos of where I am at.

James Ritter

What I Love About WT: The wonderful faculty, a beautiful campus, and mostly living at J-Town!

Why I Love Living On Campus: Living on campus is great because everything I need is just a walk away. Also, living in a Residence Hall is a fantastic experience that I think is necessary when coming to college.

Why I'm Excited to be an RA: I am so excited to be an RA because of all the new people I will meet and all the fun to be had!
