Emily LeGrande
Assistant Area Coordinator

Hometown: Justin, Texas

Education: Bachelor of Science in Sports and Exercise Science, in progress from West Texas A&M University (anticipated May 2014)

What I Love About WT: You can't walk across campus and not run into someone you know!!! Even if you don't know someone, everyone waves and smiles at you and makes you feel at home even when home might be far away.

Why I'm Excited to be a Coordinator: Because of the people I get to work with! All the Res. Living staff are so friendly and eager to help anyone with any question! Most of all though, I love working with the residents and building relationships with them! The memories I've made in Cousins Hall will stay with me forever and I love being able to help other people make their own college memories!!!

Shelby Calderon
Resident Assistant

Unit/Hall: Cousins Unit D

Hometown: Ralls, Texas

Major: Animal Science

What I Love About WT: I love the size of WT. I come from a small town, so going to a bigger school was out of the question. I like the fact that faculty and even other employees know your face and name. It make me feel welcomed and like people care about my life and future plans. Also, the fact that there are so many ways to get involved on campus; WT has tons of organizations that are made just for students' passions.

Why I Love Living On Campus: First...easy access to classes. Second...I meet so many people!

Why I'm Excited to be an RA: I get the opportunity to make an impact on people's lives!

Unit/Hall: Cousins Unit B

Hometown: Fort Worth, Texas

Major: Animal Science

What I Love About WT: The atmosphere and feel of the campus...the air feels lighter in Canyon, the grass is greener, and the people are sweeter. The faculty and staff are always willing to answer questions and work with you when you have a problem; they really care about your education and making sure that you understand every concept.

Why I Love Living On Campus: It is the best way to get connected to organizations, it helps you branch out and make new friends, and you have the chance to have a second family away from home. This is my final year at WT and I seriously would not change any of it for the world. I have made many wonderful friends, joined several great organizations, and Cousins Hall has become my second home.

Why I'm Excited to be an RA: I am proud and excited to be a Resident Assistant because I get to see the incoming students grow and realize who they are and what they want to be. Yes, I create programs to break residents out of their shells...but when we become friends or I inspire them to be an RA, I feel as though I am a super hero and nothing can bring me down.

Bailey Hooten
Resident Assistant

Unit/Hall: Cousins Unit E/F

Hometown: Tucumcari, New Mexico

Major: Elementary Education

What I Love About WT: How small it is. I graduated from Channing,TX, a small town where K-12 was in one school building and I had six other kids in my graduating class with me. Everybody knew each other in Channing and I love that I can walk around the WT campus and know the faces I see. It feels like a family on campus rather than just a school...which I love!

Why I Love Living On Campus: Living on campus means I'm closer to classes. It also gives me more opportunities to get involved and get to know more people and make more friends!

Why I'm Excited to be an RA: I get to interact with more people and help them whenever they need help! And I also try to inspire them to get more involved on campus and in the residence hall!

Why I Love Living On Campus: I get to meet tons of new people every year and I will always hear about what's going on around campus so I can get involved.

Why I'm Excited to be an RA: Because of the relationships I will build. I really want people to feel like this is their home now and that we are their family.
