Education: Bachelor of Science in Junior High English Education, in progress from West Texas A&M University (anticipated May 2013)
What I Love About WT: What is not to love?! It is small enough for those from 6-Man and 1A high schools to feel comfortable, but large enough for you to never run out of new people to meet! Most professors will take the time to get to know you and put forth effort to learn your name. It is the right size with the right majors. On, on Buffaloes!
Why I'm Excited to be a Coordinator: As a Coordinator, we get to see the growth of our residents and our RAs! We see nervous and excited freshmen experience a great part of their life and, hopefully, grow up to be mature adults! The relationships I have made are special to me and to have any part of that process makes the whole job worth it.
Justin Langford Resident Assistant
Unit/Hall: Conner, Men's Wing
Hometown: Abilene, Texas
Major: Communication Studies (Corporate Communication)
What I Love About WT: I love the size; it is just perfect...big enough that there are plenty of faces, yet small enough that you know almost everyone.
Why I Love Living On Campus: Living on campus gives you so many opportunities to meet people. You may see someone in class, but living down the hall from them opens up the chance to really get to know someone.
Why I'm Excited to be an RA: Not only do I get to live in the residence hall, but my job is to get to know people I live with. That is so amazing!
Shelby Leon-Laney Resident Assistant
Unit/Hall: Conner, Women's Long Hall
Hometown: Fritch, Texas
Major: Social Work
What I Love About WT: I love the friendly atmosphere! Everywhere you go there is always a smiling face or someone that you know.
Why I Love Living On Campus: Living in a residence hall has enabled me to get plugged in on the campus. By joining groups like the Wesley, I feel like I belong to this campus.
Why I'm Excited to be an RA: I’m really excited to be a RA again because I love meeting new people and helping my residents find where they fit in.
Rebecca Melot Resident Assistant
Unit/Hall: Conner, Women's Short Hall
Hometown: Hobbs, New Mexico
Major: BFA in Dance
What I Love About WT: The best thing about WT is the people I've met. I have friends who constantly encourage me and make me laugh over silly things.
Why I Love Living On Campus: It is so much easier to find out about events that are going on around campus when you live in a residence hall. WT has hundreds of different services and programs available for students that often go unnoticed by those living off campus. They don't even know that they are missing out!
Why I'm Excited to be an RA: I'm excited to be an RA because I'll get to encourage those around me. Instead of selfishly using my college years to live for myself, I'll get to remember this time as a point where I'm helping others.
