Transient Student Information

Congratulations on your admission to WTAMU! One of your first steps toward a successful transition to WT is to complete orientation.

A transfer student is defined as a student who was previously enrolled in a university or college and received a minimum of twelve academic hours after high school graduation- dual credit coursework does not qualify. If you do not meet these requirements for a transfer student - go to the New Student Orientation Page.

Orientation is REQUIRED for all transfer students.  You may choose to attend an in-person TSO or complete the online orientation.

Cost of Orientation
There is a base fee of $50 for all students who complete orientation, whether in-person or online. This fee will be applied to the bill for the student's first long semester. Guests who choose to attend TSO with their student are $20 per person (This charge will be billed with the student's orientation fee).

Option 1: TSO

TSO is a one-day orientation program for transfer students enrolling in fall and spring, that provides academic requirements and expectations, campus resources, involvement opportunities and the chance to meet current students. It is designed specifically for those students that have previous college experience.  During your TSO session, you will also meet with faculty and academic advisors to learn more about your academic path.  TSO will be able to finalize your registration process and allow you to get your Buff Gold Card. To download the Transfer Student Orientation schedule, please click here. Download the WTAMU Mobile app and find TSO under "Spaces". Access the schedule, info on our programs, and a campus map.

Families and guests are also welcome to attend TSO with their student.

TSO is a highly anticipated event for our students and fills up quickly.  To ensure your spot and have the best experience, registration is required by 5 p.m. the TUESDAY BEFORE the EVENT.

Option 2: Online Orientation

Online Transfer Orientation will include an introduction to our on-campus resources via a series of web pages followed by a brief quiz to assess your readiness.  Upon successful completion, you will be directed to schedule an appointment for academic advising.

Students may access the online orientation by the following steps:
1.Follow this link to the orientation
2.Log-in using your Buff ID and password
3.Complete the Orientation in its entirety
4.Pass the final quiz

The Online Transfer Orientation will take approximately one hour to complete.  You may start and stop the orientation as often as you need.  The system will remember where you left off.

Before making an appointment to see an academic advisor, all transfer students should have completed the Online Transfer Orientation.
