| Jan. 31, 2012 CONTACT: Rana McDonald, 806-651-2129, rmcdonald@wtamu.edu WTAMU Professor’s Work Selected for Publication CANYON, Texas—A literary work by Dr. Pat Tyrer, associate professor of English at West Texas A&M University, has been selected as part of a collection of original love stories and poems titled Speaking of Love. She is one of 19 poets and writers from the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand selected to contribute to this heart-warming collection of stories and poems expressing different versions of romantic happiness. Her piece, titled "The Coffee Shop," was chosen from hundreds of submissions to The Bright Light Café, a free entertainment website that provides an online platform for creative talent to showcase their work to a growing global audience. Tyrer teaches American literature, film studies and creative writing at WTAMU. She also serves as the faculty adviser for the University’s creative writing journal, The Legacy. Her works have been published in The Southern Literary Journal, The Houston Literary Review, Quiet Mountain Feminist Essays and The Journal of the College Conference of Teachers of English. The Bright Light Café currently contains nearly 1,000 short stories, poems, anecdotes, multimedia pieces, original artwork, streaming audio performances, musical works and articles.
