WTAMU Documentary to be Screened During Family Weekend

CANYON, Texas—A Hard Day’s Night in Narnia, a documentary about a West Texas A&M University study abroad trip to the United Kingdom, will be screened at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10 as part of the University’s Family Weekend festivities. The screening will be in the AT&T HD Studio in the Sybil B. Harrington Fine Arts Complex.

The documentary focuses on the faculty-led study abroad trip in July. WTAMU graduate and undergraduate students visited London, Oxford and Liverpool to study British influences on American culture. Randy Ray, associate lecturer and director of broadcast engineering, and Dr. Marty Kuhlman, professor of history, led the group. Ray examined the writings of C.S. Lewis for, and Kuhlman looked at the influence of the Beatles.

The Department of Communication is sponsoring another study abroad trip to Cape Town, South Africa in March of 2018. Although this course is already closed for enrollment, there are other ways to participate in the service-learning projects students will be preparing for their trip to Cape Town. Dr. Carolyn Baum’s class will be hosting a book drive as a part of their People of the Plains service-learning project on Nov. 29 at Palace Coffee in Canyon.
