WTAMU Deans to Speak at Globalization Seminar

CANYON, Texas—“Globalization: An Open Debate” will be the topic of a special marketing and international business seminar at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17 in the Classroom Center, Room 301 at West Texas A&M University.

Speakers for the event will be Dr. Eddie Henderson, dean of WTAMU’s College of Education and Social Sciences,  Dr. Neil Terry, dean of the College of Business at WTAMU, and Dr. Don Topliff, dean of the WTAMU College of Agriculture, Science and Engineering. Henderson will talk about globalization and changing higher education as well as his academic trips to South Asia and East Asia. Terry will cover globalization and international economics, and Topliff will discuss today’s changing globalization and international agriculture.

The seminar has been planned and organized by Dr. Syed Tariq Anwar, professor of marketing and international business at WTAMU. This is his annual international business seminar at WT. Since 2000, Anwar has organized and conducted many international business seminars and panels at WTAMU as well as in Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, San Antonio, San Francisco, Abu Dhabi, Pakistan and other cities at various academic conferences and business schools.

The topic of globalization continues to be a timely topic in the media and academic circles. Anwar said that today’s global markets and changing business environment are not without controversies and will continue to attract pro and anti-globalization schools of thoughts in the U.S. and other countries. At the same time, the seminar is timely and will provide useful and relevant information to WT’s students and the business community. Sponsors of the seminar are WTAMU’s American Marketing Association, Collegiate Chapter in the College of Business and Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars at WTAMU.

The program, part of Anwar’s MKT 5/4340 international marketing class, is free and open to WTAMU students, faculty and the business community. For more information, call Anwar, at 806-651-2491 or visit the seminar website at wtfaculty.wtamu.edu/~sanwar.bus/seminars-NEW.htm#Globalization_Seminar_Fall2014.
