| March 9, 2010 COPY BY: Rana McDonald, 806-651-2129, rmcdonald@wtamu.edu WT Women Awards Scholarships for 2010-2011 CANYON, Texas—The WT Women executive committee has awarded scholarships to five West Texas A&M University students for the 2010-2011 academic year. WT Women scholarships provide scholarship funds for children and grandchildren of WTAMU faculty and staff members who are attending or planning to attend the University. Each of the five recipients will receive $250 for the fall 2010 semester and $250 for the spring 2011 semester. The committee awarded a one-time Centennial Scholarship to commemorate the University’s Centennial celebration. The Centennial Scholarship was awarded to Casey Hayes, a senior theatre major from Canyon. He is the son of Tadhi Hayes, director of engineering and architectural services at WTAMU. The Virginia Maples Scholarship was awarded to Thomas Wieck, a freshman math major from Umbarger. He is the son of Yvonne Wieck, coordinator of the University’s student employment services. The executive committee also awarded WT Women Scholarships to Brett Harper, a freshman marketing major from Amarillo and granddaughter of former WTAMU employee Tommy Harper; Margaret Snider, a freshman pre-med major from Amarillo and daughter of Kathy Snider, instructor of nursing; and William Walker, junior pre-engineering major from Canyon and son of Kathey Walker, administrative director of the Attebury Honors Program.
