WT Production of 'Peter and the Starcatcher' Receives KCACTF Awards

CANYON, Texas – The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), a national theater program with more than 600 colleges and universities invited to showcase their work, has recognized West Texas A&M University for their production of Peter and the Starcatcher.

As an Associate Production, the family-oriented performance was directed by Royal R. Brantley and showed in the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum on Jan. 24 - 27. The following achievements and commendations were awarded to the cast and crew.

  • Meritorious Achievement by an Ensemble
  • Meritorious Achievement in Scenic Design, Driana Bramer
  • Meritorious Achievement in Costume Design, Driana Bramer
  • Irene Ryan Acting Award and Nomination, Hannah Segrist*
  • Irene Ryan Acting Award and Nomination, Isabel Lyda*

*Students to compete in the Irene Ryan Acting Competition at the Region VI Festival, February 2020.

WT is included in KCACTF’s Region VI, which compasses Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. WT began participating in KCACTF in 1994, and every production since then has received high praise and/or a chance to advance to the regional festival.
