University’s Graduate Business Program Earns Top Ranking


CANYON, Texas—The West Texas A&M University graduate business program has been recognized as the top program in the latest rankings by Best Value Schools. The Master of Science in Finance and Economics was ranked number one in the online master’s in economics program category for the 2015 rankings.


WTAMU’s recognition is based on the combination of affordability, AACSB accreditation and national quality rankings by U.S. News & World Report and The Financial Engineer. The most recent Best Value Schools rankings are as follows:


1.     West Texas A&M University—M.S. in finance and economics;

2.     Youngstown University—M.A. in financial economics;

3.     University of North Dakota—M.S. in applied economics;

4.     University of Wisconsin Whitewater—M.S. in applied economics;

5.     Mercer University—M.B.A. in economics;

6.     Ohio University—M.S. in financial economics;

7.     University of Georgia—M.S. in financial planning and consumer economics;

8.     Georgia Southern University—M.S. in applied economics;

9.     Purdue University—M.S. in economics; and

10.  Southern New Hampshire University—M.S. in applied economics.


Current enrollment in the Master of Science in Finance and Economics stands at more than 70 students. The flexible program allows students to complete all degree requirements on campus, online or in a combination of the campus and online environments. The program is geared to professionals working in applied finance and business fields but also offers the academic depth for placement in leading doctorate programs and law schools.

The Master of Science in Finance has earned multiple recognitions in 2015, which includes a number 10 ranking by The Financial Engineer for best financial economics program and a number 11 ranking by U.S. News & World Report for best online specialized business degree.
