Three WTAMU Faculty Members Receive End-of-Year Awards

CANYON, Texas—West Texas A&M University closed its spring semester with the presentation of the 2010-2011 Faculty Excellence Awards May 6 at the annual Faculty Meeting on campus. Three faculty members were recognized for their outstanding contributions to higher education.

Each of the three recipients received an engraved plaque and a cash stipend.

Dr. Timothy Atchison, associate professor of psychology, received the Instructional Excellence Award; Dr. Lance Kieth, associate professor of agriculture education, is the recipient of the Professional Service Award; and Dr. Pradeep Racherla, assistant professor of marketing, received the Intellectual Contributions Award.

Atchison joined the WTAMU faculty in 2002. He teaches both the larger classes and the specialized graduate seminars with added demonstrations and activities to improve student comprehension. Atchison is active in research and also serves as an adviser, a graduate coordinator and has developed a tracking system to facilitate student progress through the program.

Kieth, who joined the WTAMU faculty in 2002, is well known for his commitment to students and to WTAMU. He is an active member of several departmental and university committees and represents the University with participation in state and regional organizations. He is a mentor and the organization he advises provides some of the most intensive leadership and service training at the University.

Racherla has established himself as an outstanding scholar since joining the WTAMU faculty in 2008. He has had nine peer-reviewed publications in national and international journals the past two years  as well as dozens of peer-reviewed presentations and proceedings. Racherla also has provided leadership as chair of the College of Business’ research symposium the past two years.
