MEDIAMinds Wins Three Telly Awards
CANYON, Texas—MEDIAMinds at West Texas A&M University received three bronze awards as well as the People’s Choice Telly at the 35th Annual Telly Awards for its piece titled Go! The competition featured more than 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries.
Go! is a branded recruiting video for the College of Business produced and directed by students at WTAMU. Mostly a representative group from the marketing area of study, the students set out to “bring the College of Business to life,” according to Dustin Ratheal, senior marketing major from Canyon and director of photography for the project. The Go! piece earned awards in internet/online programs, segments or promotional pieces in the categories of education, student and recruitment for a total of three bronze awards. The recipient of the People’s Choice Telly is determined by votes of those visiting the Telly website.
The Telly Awards, founded in 1979, is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators and corporate video departments in the world.
A prestigious panel of more than 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition.
“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” Linda Day, executive director of the Telly Awards, said. “The College of Business at WTAMU accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”

“The video features the skills needed for today’s marketing professionals. They have to not only know what to do but how to do it. Many of our graduates are being asked to generate the strategic ideas, and execute them. MEDIAMinds gives students the opportunity to build a hearty portfolio that shows a company the skill set they bring to the table.”
