Journalist to Speak at WTAMU Commencement
CANYON, Texas—Award-winning journalist Cindy W. Morrison will be the keynote speaker at West Texas A&M University’s fall commencement exercises Friday, Dec. 14 at the First United Bank Center.
She will speak at two commencements that day. Diplomas will be handed out at 3 p.m. for students in the College of Agriculture, Science and Engineering, the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and a second commencement begins at 7 p.m. for students in the College of Business and the College of Education and Social Sciences. A total of 674 students have applied for fall graduation.
Morrison is a nationally known speaker, social media strategist and author with more than 20 years of experience in TV news. Her coverage of the Oklahoma City bombing earned her Emmy, Peabody and Gracie Allen awards, and her social media acumen has been featured on Fox News and The Talk as well as The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and The Huffington Post. Instead of sitting at an anchor desk, the former reporter now works with entrepreneurs and corporate executives through her SOCIALVENTION programs to reboot companies using social media, video and branding. Stiletto Magazine has named her to the list of the Top 25 Most Amazing Women in America.
Morrison, a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, is a member of the National Speakers Association and currently serves as the national spokesperson for Clear-tone/Sebotek.
Other WTAMU graduation activities include a Fall Ring Ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14 in the Jack B. Kelley Student Center, Legacy Hall.
West Texas A&M University conducts commencement ceremonies each year in December, May and August.
