Have You Herd? November 2009 Renaissance Holiday Feast

Tickets Available for Annual Renaissance Holiday Feast

Ticket sales are under way for the 28th annual Renaissance Holiday Feast scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5 in the Alumni Banquet Facility at West Texas A&M University.

The annual feast celebrates the holiday season with the food, fashion and folly reminiscent of the renaissance years. Hosts will begin serving the traditional wassail, a warm spiced drink, at 6:45 p.m. A traditional renaissance feast will follow at 7 p.m. with a menu featuring fresh vegetables, cabbage and potato soup, parsley bread, Cornish game hen, barley dressing and sweet potatoes. Apple cake with vanilla sauce will be served for dessert. Servers, jesters and performers will be dressed in costume to reflect the festive theme.

Entertainment for the evening will provide the sounds of the renaissance era with performances by the WTAMU Chamber Singers and the Matilda Gaume Early Music Consort.

“This is a great way to begin the holiday season by celebrating with food and music and helping students with scholarships,” Dr. Robert Krause, professor of music and chairman of the Renaissance Holiday Feast Committee, said. “It is a fun, enjoyable time for everyone, and proceeds from the Renaissance Feast provide scholarships for students directly involved in the production and performance of the dinner.”

The Renaissance Holiday Feast is sponsored by the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities and the CORE Center.

Seating is limited and reservations are required. The reservation deadline is 5 p.m. Thursday,  Dec. 3. Corporate seating is $275 for a table of eight. Tickets for open seating are $25 for general admission, $20 for WTAMU faculty and staff members, $12 for students, $10 for WTAMU students with an I.D. and $7 for WTAMU students with a meal card. A scholarship donation of $10 per ticket minimum includes preferred seating.
