"Artists for Art Students' Exhibit Hanging at Cornette Library

CANYON, Texas—“Artists for Art Students” is hanging through Feb. 19 in the First Floor Gallery at Cornette Library at West Texas A&M University as a fund-raiser for the Texas Panhandle Art Education Association to benefit area art students.

Professional artists have donated pieces for the exhibition and proceeds from the sale of the art work will make it possible for middle school, junior high and high school art students in the Texas Panhandle to show their work in the Visual Arts Scholastic Event, the Texas Panhandle Invitational Student Art Show and/or the Art in the Park contest as well as provide art scholarships to deserving Texas Panhandle high school seniors planning to major in art in college.

Artists who have donated works for the show include June Gabel, Becky Castleberry, Linda Podzemny, Suzanne Bullock, Len Slesick, Margaret Campbell, Gail Beck, Vance McSwain, John Darby, Marshi Lair, Mel Richey, Darrik Randell, Jacob Breeden, Jo Brown, Kenneth Wampler, Karen Wolfram, Kent Harris, Megan Easley, Robin Barrick, Alex Gregory, Mandy Gregory, Rita Berry, Will McGowan and Dennis Olson. Works represent a variety of media ranging from watercolor, pastel and oil to photography, stoneware and blown glass.
