Request a book that is checked out

When you find a book in the online catalog that is checked out to someone else, you may "place a hold" on that book -- that is, ask the Library to hold the book for you at the Circulation Desk when it is returned so that you will be the next person to get it. This service is only available for books which are checked out. You cannot place a hold on a book that is listed in the online catalog as available.

From the Brief or Full Record screen for the book you are interested in, click on the hold link under actions in the filter box. The login screen will appear. Log in using the access method for your patron group.

On the next page, a drop-down box will appear. Choose Hold and click OK. Enter the last seven digits of your Buffalo Gold Card number in the appropriate box on the request form that appears. Then scroll down and click the Submit Request button at the bottom of the page.

Circulation will call and/or e-mail you when the book has been returned and will hold the book for you for 10 days at the Circulation Desk.

Remember to log out by clicking on the Exit tab at the top of the page.
