The
Network Services department works
closely with the other departments
of Systems Support to maintain
a safe, cost-effective, reliable
network for the faculty, staff
and students of West Texas A&M
University (WTAMU).
The
campus network at WTAMU consists
of a Gigabit backbone and several
Ethernet LANs. The network connects
31 buildings, including 6 residence
halls, and the network has over
2000 devices attached.
Internet access for the campus is provided via a 5.9 MB connection
to Texas A&M University. The residence halls, except for Stafford
and Cousins, are provided Internet access via a 10 MB connection from
Cox Communications. Stafford and Cousins are provided Internet access
via cable modems leased from Cox Communications.
The
Network Services department maintains
all core functions of the campus
network including File and Print
services, DNS, DHCP, Email, Virus
Protection, and Security.
The
Network Services department is
located in the Computer Center,
just across from the Jack B.
Kelley (JBK) Student Center.
Any comments or questions may be sent to the Network
Supervisor.
