Multimedia Development Lab:
The multimedia development lab was created to assist faculty and staff in learning, preparing, and producing educational or instructional materials using the latest technologies. Located in the HELC Room 53, the lab is available to all faculty and staff who are working on WTAMU materials or projects. Our lab includes both PC and Macintosh systems, along with a variety of multimedia software and hardware to provide university faculty and staff the resources needed to accomplish their tasks. Skilled and trained staff are available for assistance with university related projects.
Available Technologies:
Audio Tape Duplication Duplicate your audiotapes easily and quickly using a high-speed cassette-duplicating machine.[Subject to copyright restrictions.]
CD ROM Transfer Transfer your files to CD ROM for a durable storage medium.
CD ROM/DVD Duplicator Duplicate copies of CD ROMs can be made.[Subject to copyright restrictions.]
DVD Recorder Use this equipment to create DVDs of existing VHS, 8mm or miniDV media. [Subject to copyright restrictions.]
Document Scanners Scan in text or graphic documents. You can use the installed software to adjust photos or other graphics to provide excellent quality output.
Light Table Use the light table to backlight and review overheads or 35mm slides.
Transparencies Use the color printer to make transparencies directly from your computer file.
Video Tape Conversion Convert 16mm reel-to-reel film to VHS. VHS to digital. Hi-8 to VHS. [Subject to copyright restrictions.]
Video Tape Duplication Make duplicates of your VHS tapes. Equipment can be used to convert tape speeds or to edit out sections of a tape.[Subject to copyright restrictions.]
Video Editing Use the editing equipment to edit or dub portions of a videotape onto another videotape, CDRom or DVD.[Subject to copyright restrictions.]
Windows & Macintosh Computers Computer workstations have the capability to: scan & modify images, scan & modify slides, design & construct websites for courses, and prepare presentations & courseware. Software applications available include: Macromedia Studio MX, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Publisher, Adobe InDesign.
Miscellaneous Additional resources are paper cutter, hole punch, stapler, binder, dry mount materials, and a matte cutter.
