for academic and administrative
systems across the campus
of West Texas A&M
University. Academic
and Information Serivces
is composed of four departments:
The Distance Education group
provides students, faculty and staff instructional and collaborative
opportunities by implementing and supporting online and interactive
video conferencing media.
The Instructional Innovation
and Technology Lab (IITL) provides
students, faculty and staff access to state-of-the-art multimedia
hardware and software. Several computer and presentation devices
are available to check out for use in the classroom. In addition,
IITL staff assists faculty and staff in the development of high-tech
presentations, graphic imagery, and presentation of research
findings.
Information
Services offers
assistance
using administrative
application
programs and
provides custom
programming
when needed
as well as
assisting users
in filing complex
state and federal
reports.
Web Services, an extension of Information Services, is responsible
for WWW systems development and technical support and
maintenance for both academic and administrative clients. The
applications
include, but are not limited to, web access to Student Schedule & Grades,
web-based Grade Entry, and web-based Application for Admission
for all prospective students. This group also supports the enhancement
of web access to the RISC information systems.
The Hastings Electronic Learning
Center Open Access Lab (OAL) provides
state-of–the-art computing facilities on a ‘drop-in’ basis
for students, faculty, and staff. In addition, five large classrooms
are available for reserved use by University departments.
Lab assistants are on duty throughout the day and evening. They
assist users with logging in, accessing common applications,
browsing the Internet, printing (color and B&W), saving files
on a network server, scanning images or creating video projects
on either Dell or Macintosh systems.
