Calling all Buffaloes, past, present and future to help “Bring Home the Herd” Sept. 27-Oct. 4 as we celebrate West Texas A&M University Homecoming 2008.

Cheer on the Buffs as they tackle Midwestern State University, followed by a concert featuring American Idol finalist Kellie Pickler and former ASCAP songwriter of the year, Phil Vassar at the First United Bank Center.

Pre-game activities include Amarillo pep rally, Pigskin Revue pep rally, lighting of the bonfire, the Homecoming Parade, Fair on the Square and pitchfork fondue.

The WTAMU Buffs battle Midwestern State on the gridiron at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.  After edging Midwestern State 29-27 at Homecoming 2006, the Buffs are primed for a repeat.

AMARILLO PEP RALLY

Help us carry the Buffalo Spirit to Amarillo as we show our support for the maroon and white.  Join the team, band and cheerleaders from 5:30-9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the Amarillo Civic Center, Grand Plaza. It’s free and open to the public.

HOMECOMING CONCERT

The First United Bank Center opens at 10 p.m. to the sounds of Phil Vassar and Kellie Pickler following the big game against Midwestern State.

Phil Vassar

Phil Vassar, Virginia-born singer, songwriter and musician took his seat as country's leading piano man with the success of songs like "Just Another Day In Paradise" and "Six-Pack Summer."
                                              
As a writer, he's scored hits with Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina and BlackHawk. His self-titled artist debut bowed in 2000 on Arista/Nashville, and the hits continued to pile up: "Carlene," "Rose Bouquet," "That's When I Love You," "In A Real Love" and more. He has been named ASCAP's songwriter or writer/artist of the year multiple times.

 

Kellie Pickler

American Idol finalist, Kellie Pickler's debut album, Small Town Girl, was certified gold three months after its release and yielded three top 15 singles. “Red High Heels” was named by ASCAP as one of the most played songs of 2006-07.

Her current hit, “Things That Never Cross A Man’s Mind,” is on the top 20 chart.  She has performed on tour with Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts.
