Donning of the Kente
Celebration of Achievement
SPRING COMMENCEMENT 2014
West Texas A&M University (WTAMU), the WTAMU Diversity and Inclusion Cabinet Faculty and Staff, and the WTAMU Office for Diversity and Inclusion congratulates graduating Black/African American undergraduates and graduates on their upcoming Spring 2014 graduation. We look forward to your participation in the Inaugural Donning of the Kente Celebration of Achievement.

Time: 6 p.m.
Place: Thunder Room 35 (Lower Level), Jack B. Kelley Student Center
Guest Speaker: Claudia Stuart, Instructor in the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice; and the Department of Psychology, Sociology and Social Work, College of Education and Social Sciences
The ceremony is a symbol of achievement for graduating West Texas A&M University Black/African American students. Family members will honor graduates by the placing of a Kente cloth on their graduates as a symbol of pride and attainment. The Kente stole can be worn during Spring Commencement 2014.
We ask that you designate one (1) family member or friend to be the spokesperson for your guests.
The cost for the Kente will be one (1) of your choosing from the options below. You will need to pay the total amount of the stole, which includes tax, in person with cash or money order made out to West Texas A&M University-Kente Stole on the day you submit your application to the Office for Diversity and Inclusion, Classroom Center 133 G (inside First Year Experience Office). The deadline for payment is March 4, 2014.

- “Class of 2014” added to the Kente stole = $31.34
- Personalized = $54.07
