Transfer Ambassadors

The WTAMU Transfer Ambassadors are a group of transfer students who are available to assist current and prospective students in all aspects of their WTAMU career.  The Transfer Ambassadors come from diverse backgrounds, various colleges/universities, and have different educational majors and goals. Please feel free to contact any and all with any questions you have.

Most important advice for new transfers: Make friends with people in your major because they'll help you be successful.

Favorite WTAMU course that you've taken so far and why: Calculus Physics I with Britt Long because the labs were fun and we did an awesome final project.
Favorite place on the WTAMU campus and why: ECS, because there are always other students in the computer lab who are willing to help each other.
Why you want to be a Transfer Ambassador: I had a rough first semester at WT, and I would like to prevent other students from having a hard time settling in.

Most important advice for new transfers: Reach out! If you get lost or need help, just ask. This will be your home for a while so make yourself comfortable!

Favorite WTAMU tradition: Spirit Rock
Favorite WTAMU course that you've taken so far and why: Fundamentals of Engineering with Dr. Howell. We learned a variety of things that were introduced early on which helped me throughout my other classes. It really confirmed my interest in engineering.
Favorite place on the WTAMU campus and why: The Jack B. Kelley Center - it is busy and I love seeing everyone hanging out, eating, or doing homework; it's like a daily family reunion.
Why you want to be a Transfer Ambassador: To be a liaison between students and the campus, whether that be to their professors, peers, organizations, or resources, I am here to help!

Most important advice for new transfers: Try to get involved with clubs and on-campus activities. It is a fun way to explore and meet new people.

Favorite WTAMU tradition: The WT hand-sign.
Favorite WTAMU course that you've taken so far and why: CIDM 3330 because I learned a lot about Microsoft Excel and how to do calculations that will help me in my career.
Favorite place on the WT campus and why: Buffalo Fountain - I love water features.
Why you want to be a Transfer Ambassador: To help plug fellow transfers into the school and make them feel at home.

Most important advice for new transfers: It takes time to get used to new things and a new school, but it will be okay!

Favorite WTAMU tradition: Communication Week!
Favorite WTAMU course that you've taken so far and why: Emerging Media Law, because it was so interesting! I never knew I was interested in law before taking that class.
Favorite place on the WTAMU campus: The VHAC, because you can work out, swim, play volleyball and so much more there!
Why you want to be a Transfer Ambassador: I want to be a Transfer Ambassador because I know how hard the transition can be, and I'd like to share what I learned going through that.

Most important advice for new transfers: Don't ever be afraid to ask or call for help! Everyone at one point was confused or lost somewhere on campus.
Campus involvement/organizations: Rodeo Team
Favorite WTAMU tradition: I love the way that Canyon supports the school. Everyone is always genuinely asking what degree we are and what brought us here!
Favorite WTAMU course that you've taken so far and why: Current Issues with Lisa Garza. She takes real issues in society, puts factual info with them, and holds great discussions on them.
Favorite place on the WTAMU campus and why: Old Main - I love the historic feel and architecture of it; all of my sociology classes and advisers are in this building.
Why you want to be a Transfer Ambassador: I love WT, and being able to help people be students here is a passion of mine! Transfer students are awesome!

Favorite WTAMU tradition: The history of the Eternal Flame
Favorite WTAMU course that you've taken so far and why: Animal Science with Dr. Lust is amazing! I learned so much and there is so much hands-on learning.
Favorite place on the WTAMU campus and why: The new Ag Sciences Complex. The support from our community for this building is incredible! Also, the Complex is gorgeous!
Why you want to be a Transfer Ambassador: I have a passion for helping others grow and develop, and this position allows me to do that.
