Transfer Ambassadors

The WTAMU Transfer Ambassadors are a group of transfer students who are available to assist current and prospective students in all aspects of their WTAMU career.  The Transfer Ambassadors come from diverse backgrounds, various colleges/universities, and have different educational majors and goals. Please feel free to contact any and all with any questions you have.

College/University Attended: Otero Junior College, Colorado State University

Most important advice for new transfer students: It's okay to feel lost, but it's also okay to ask for help.
Campus involvement/organizations: Agribusiness Club.
Favorite WTAMU tradition: The Eternal Flame
Favorite WTAMU course you have taken so far and why: Futures and Options because it really challenged me!
Favorite place on the WT campus and why: The Buffalo Fountain in front of Old Main; it's beautiful!

College/University Attended: Blinn College, Wharton County Junior College
Hometown: Sugar Land
Plans after graduation: Master's degree in Educational Diagnostician
Most important advice for new transfer students: Do not be afraid to get involved!

Favorite WTAMU tradition: Eterrnal Flame.
Favorite WTAMU course you have taken so far and why:

  • EDRD 3302 Elementary School Reading Skills
  • EDSP 4351 Exceptional Children
    Both of these classes taught me so much more about special education than I knew before.

Favorite place on the WT campus and why: Jack B.Kelley Student Center (JBK) because this is where everything happens and where all the students hang out all the time.

Plans after graduation: Travel through my job!

Favorite WTAMU tradition:

  • History of Old Main/Eternal Flame
  • Spirit Rock

Favorite WTAMU course you have taken so far and why: Calculus II because once you have accomplished that math, you can do anything.

Major: Communication Disorders
College/University Attended: Amarillo College
Hometown: Amarillo, TX
Plans after graduation: I hope to attend graduate school to earn my master's in speech-language pathology.
Most important advice for new transfer students:
Get involved! It takes time to adjust but meeting new people and joining campus organizations eases the transition.
Campus involvement/organizations: NSSLHA, Mortar Board, Golden Key International, Honor Society of Leadership and Success.
Favorite WTAMU tradition: The WT fight song.
Favorite WTAMU course you have taken so far and why: Phonetics because it is really fun for everyone in the program to write in symbols. It is like a secret language between speech therapists.
Favorite place on the WT campus and why: The Activities Center because there are so many fun things to do there!

Major: Nursing
College/University Attended: Seward County Community College
Hometown: Liberal, KS
Plans after graduation: Work as a registered nurse for a couple of years, then attend graduate school to become a physician's assistant or nurse practitioner.
Most important advice for new transfer students: Do not feel different than students who came straight out of high school to WT. No matter your situation, you are just as welcomed on this campus.
Campus involvement/organizations: West Texas A&M Nursing Student Association, Peer Leader, Golden Key International, Honor Society of Leadership and Success.
Favorite WTAMU tradition: Fight song!
Favorite WTAMU course you have taken so far and why: Health Promotion because we learned about nutrition and the obstacles the current population has with a healthy lifestyle which interests me a lot, and I feel like I learned many things that can help me in my profession.
Favorite place on the WT campus and why: Buffalo Fountain. I feel like through the chaos it's nice to have a peaceful place on campus where you can be reminded how beautiful the WT campus is.
