Summer Enrichment Student

 Who is eligible for the USA Summer Enrichment?

  • Students who do not meet regular admissions requirements for Fall 2009
  • High school graduates, Spring 2009
  • Students who intend to enroll full time in an academic track at West Texas A&M University for the Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 semesters

How do I apply to the University Success Academy?

  • Apply for admission to West Texas A&M University by April1, 2009
  • Complete and return the WTAMU Summer Enrichment contract by May 1, 2009

What will be expected of me if I'm chosen?

You must be committed to attending a West Texas A&M University full-time in the fall and spring semesters (2009 - 2010) with your long term-goal being the completion of a bachelor's degree.

In addition, you must commit to complete various assignments and participate in success oriented activities such as:

  • Living on campus at WTAMU for the first or second summer term
    • First Summer Term: June 1 - July 2
    • Second Summer Term: July 6 - Aug. 6
  • Complete financial aid applications for both 2008-2009 and 2009-2010
  • Participate in field trips and other special activities, which will involve weekends
  • Attend summer orientation program

Conditions of the Program

Students admitted as Summer Enrichment must meet the conditions listed below to continue at WTAMU:

  • Successfully complete six hours of developmental or core coursework at WTAMU during one of two summer sessions
  • Successful completetion is considered a 2.0 GPA with a grad of "C" or better. Students who do not meet requirements will be denied admission to WTAMU for Fall 2009
  • Attend classes regularly and make arrangements to make up any missed work for excused absenses; the STARR Center will send progress reports to track attendance and participation
  • Schedule weekly meetings with the Summer Enrichment Advisor
  • Accept my advisor's recommendations on developmental course work and referrals for assistance through services such as tutoring, supplemental instruction, academic labs, career assessment, personal counseling
  • Agree to allow any information shared with my parents, advisors, instructors, career counselors, and other involved in my personal and academic success to be shared (i.e. tutors, Student Support Services, Career Services, supplemental instructors.)
