Pledge Contract

WT Graduation Pledge Contract

The WT Graduation Pledge program is open to new students who enter the University directly from high school during summer 2009 or later. This program is designed to support, encourage, and reward students who complete a bachelor’s degree within four years.

Participation in the program requires a formal agreement with WTAMU Advising Services, subject to initial assessment during the first semester by the academic advisor regarding the student’s individual readiness. 


Students who wish to participate in the WT Graduation Pledge must meet the following conditions: 

  • Be classified for tuition purposes as a resident of Texas.
  • Begin enrollment at West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) fall 2009 or later.
  • Have no prior post-secondary enrollment (dual credit earned while in high school is OK).
  • Receive approval from an academic advisor in Advising Services (Student Advising, Registration and Retention Center) and sign a formal agreement prior to the end of the first term of enrollment at WTAMU.

As a participant in the WT Graduation Pledge program, the student agrees to the following:

  • Choose an academic major that qualifies for the WT Graduation Pledge contract (see an academic advisor for a list of majors). Students who elect to major in two academic programs (“double major”) are not eligible to participate in this program.
  • Declare an academic major prior to completion of 30 credit hours.
  • Meet with an academic advisor at least once a semester and follow the guidance of the academic advisor.
  • Sign-up for classes during each semester’s early registration period and meet payment dates.
  • Maintain continuous enrollment at West Texas A&M University during fall and spring semesters.
  • Successfully complete a minimum of fifteen credit hours per semester; when a required course is not available, notify the academic advisor.
  • Complete all coursework at West Texas A&M University.
  • Complete the requirements and earn a bachelor’s degree at West Texas A&M University within four calendar years
  • Accept responsibility for timely annual application for all necessary financial assistance.

For participants in the WT Graduation Pledge program, West Texas A&M University agrees to the following:

  • A commitment to the availability during each long semester of at least fifteen credit hours of coursework needed for the degree. Important to note is that enrollment in specific courses or sections during a given semester is not guaranteed.
  • Sound guidance from an academic advisor.
  • Mutually acceptable alternatives or substitutions in the case that a course or courses designated for the degree are not available.
  • A $1000 rebate upon graduation if the student adheres to all program requirements and receives a degree within four years; or a $1,000 tuition rebate upon graduation if the student adheres to all program requirements and is not able to graduate within four years.
