The TSI Assessment is the only approved test, effective Fall 2013. All testing must be taken care of prior to the start of Orientation. If a student only needs to test in one area, the TSI Assessment allows for the student to only pay for that section. Students who have not tested will be given late-afternoon advising and registration appointments. To verify your testing needs, please contact the Office of Admissions at 806.651.2020 or visit the WTAMU Texas Success Initiative webpage for details.
The entire test is untimed but generally takes about 2-3 hours.
Students from out of state can make arrangements through Educational Services to take the TSI Assessment at a local community college or university testing center, if the center agrees to proctor the assessment. Students can make arrangements through Educational Services if the approved test is not available.
Students planning to test at WTAMU can contact WTAMU Educational Services for cost and registration.
Any student testing must first complete the TSI Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA). The PAA can be located online at www.wtamu.edu/tsipaa. Upon completion, a certificate of completion will be emailed to the student. Educational Services will require proof of this document before a student is allowed to take the TSI Assessment. Once the PAA has been completed, with documentation of completion, the student will not have to repeat the PAA to retest.
All needed testing must be completed before the New Student Orientation officially begins.
