Freshman Admission Requirements Join Us for Fall 2013! By the numbers, 71 percent of freshman applicants are admitted to West Texas A&M University. Your chances are excellent and we want you to make plans to attend this next year. We will work with you to make the application process as smooth as possible. There are some items we'll need, but in short we will admit applicants that meet the three conditions below: - Obtain a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA).
- Meet one of the following class rank and ACT/SAT requirements:

Important: Students who do not meet the class rank + ACT/SAT requirements will be reviewed for admission on a competitive, individual basis, with weighted consideration of class rank and standardized test scores (ACT or SAT.) - Students from Texas public high schools that did not offer the recommended Texas high school curriculum or who have only completed a portion because not all the courses were available or other circumstances (and who have not satisfied the College Readiness Benchmarks) may complete HB 3826 Exemption Form below.
- Students from out of state, private schools, or home schools who have not completed the recommended Texas high school curriculum (and who have not satisfied the College Readiness Benchmarks) may complete HB 3826 Exemption Form below.
Exemptions from the Policy To claim an exemption from the Policy, students must submit one of the two exemption forms completed by the high school counselor or other school official, in addition to all other required credentials. The forms below can be printed and submitted via the instructions on the form. HB 3826 Exemption Form Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive a letter notifying you of your admission status about ten days after your application file is complete. Undergraduate Appeals Students have the right to appeal the University’s admission decision. An appeal to reconsider an admissions decision may or may not change the decision. There are generally two reasons that a decision will be changed: (1) extenuating circumstances that were previously undisclosed, or (2) if the academic record changed significantly from the information on file.
