Freshman Applicants Admission Steps First-time freshman applicants, including students who have received college-level credit while in high school, who wish to be considered for admission should submit the following: - Application for admission with required fee ($25) - Texas Common Application *
- Official high school and any college transcripts
- TAKS scores (for Texas residents attending public school)
- Entrance exam scores on the American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Assessment Test I (SAT I)
* Applicants to WTAMU are not required to answer page 5 ("extracurricular, personal, volunteer activities") or page 6 ("employment information") on the Texas Common Application. Fall 2009 Admission Requirements Freshman applicants will be admitted to the University upon meeting all three conditions below: - A minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA)
- Met one of the following requirements:
- Top 10% of high school graduating class.
- The next 15% of high school graduating class with a minimum 860 SAT (critical reading + math) or 18 ACT
- The second quartile of high school graduating class with a minimum 900 SAT (critical reading + math) or 19 ACT
- The third quartile of high school graduating class with a minimum 940 SAT (critical reading + math) or 20 ACT
- The fourth quartile of high school graduating class with a minimum 980 SAT (critical reading + math) or 21 ACT
- Completion (or projected completion) of the recommended Texas high school curriculum or similar college preparatory program. This includes:
- four credits of English
- three credits each of math and science
- three and one-half credits of social science
- two credits of foreign language
- one credit of computer science
* Texas residents attending public schools will also be required to have taken and passed all sections of the TAKS test. **We do not currently require the writing section of the SAT for Admission's purposes. Students who do not meet these conditions will be reviewed for admission on a competitive, individual basis, with weighted consideration of class rank and standardized test scores. Students may also be considered for provisional admission. Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive a letter notifying you of your admission status (about ten days after your application file is complete).
