The Texas A&M University System, one of the largest and most renowned systems of higher education in the world, consists of nine universities, seven agencies, the Baylor College of Dentistry and The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center. West Texas A&M University joined this elite federation September 1, 1990, and since then has reaped numerous benefits.
  • Enrollment has increased by more than 1000 students
  • Regional divisions of the Texas Engineering Experiment Station, Texas Transportaion Institute and Texas Forest Service are located on the WTAMU campus
  • Opportunities for joint faculty appointments, cooperative research ventures and collaborative grant projects are enhanced.
  • Scholarship funding has increased
  • The University enjoys a permanent presence in Austin and Washington D.C., where A&M System representatives constantly monitor legislation and funding opportunities that have an impact upon West Texas A&M University.

The Fall term, 2006 headcount enrollment was 7,412.

The campus is situated on a 135 acres including 42 buildings plus First United Bank Center, Horse Center, and 2,400 acre Nance Ranch.
