Veteran Benefits West Texas A&M University has been named one of the 2010-2011 top military-friendly universities by Military Advanced Education magazine. The magazine produces the “Top Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities Guide” annually to provide pertinent information about academic programs available for prospective military students. “Enrollments of active duty military, national guard and reserve personnel, veterans and their dependents have increased considerably over the past few years, up approximately 42 percent since 2008,” Dan Garcia, vice president for enrollment management, said. “Recognition of WT as a top military-friendly university is an honor, and further evidence that the University is helping to meet the educational needs of these soldiers and their families.” WTAMU’s inclusion in the guide provides information about the many opportunities available for military students at the University. Opportunities that mark the University as a military-friendly institution include scholarships, waivers and exemptions for dependents, tuition assistance, transferability of credits and online degree offerings. The University’s military enrollment stands at more than 300 students. For more information and assistance with benefits, contact Sharon Childers in the Office of the Registrar, 806-651-4936.
