TXPPLN Background

Inspired by critical aspects of the EdCamp conference model, the TXPPLN event links theory with practice and shares accountability for teacher candidate outcomes and continuing professional education for certified Texas educators.  Underpinning our framework are the following principles:

  • Effective candidate preparation and professional learning experiences are focused upon student learning.
  • Effective candidate preparation and professional learning experiences are individually empowering and collaborative.
  • Effective candidate preparation and professional learning experiences sustain continuous dialogue to improve teaching and student learning.
  • Effective candidate preparation and professional learning experiences are personalized and promote self-inquiry and self-reflection. 
  • Effective candidate preparation and professional learning experiences are supportive, safe spaces that reinforce meaningful change.  

Attendees

  • Engage in informal conversation
  • Share ideas
  • Perform demonstrations
  • Discuss positions
  • Communicate challenges

Facilitators

  • Provide direction to ensure that the conversation progresses forward
  • Document dialogue, understandings, questions, and other important points that arise during the discussion
  • Establish a platform to promote continuous dialogue after the event

Facilitators and attendees earn up to six Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours.
