Professional Profile

Dr. McEvers joined the Paul Engler College of Agriculture in 2014. He received a B.S. in Animal Science from West Texas A&M University in 2008, an M.S. in Animal Science from West Texas A&M University in 2010 and a Ph.D. in Agriculture from West Texas A&M University in 2014.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. McEvers teaches Food Science, Meat Animal Carcass Evaluation meat welfare management, advanced agricultural statistics, and Meat Science.

Dr. McEvers is a member of the American Meat Science Association as well as the American Society of Animal Science.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. McEver’s research interests include: growth and development of cattle development of objective measures to characterize stress and welfare of meat animals, utilization of technologies including genetic markers and biometrics to better understand carcass quality and yield, as well as developing methods to measure carcass traits and fabrication characteristics.

Personal Sketch

Dr. McEvers lives in a country home with his wife and fellow WT alum Whitney their children, Ava and Wylie as well as three dogs. He enjoys skiing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family at an area lake.
