WT Student Actors practicing their artWest Texas A&M University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges or SACSCOC, a regional agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. This is the highest accreditation a university can receive and signifies that WTAMU has "a purpose appropriate to higher education and the resources, programs and services sufficient to accomplish and sustain that purpose."

The WTAMU Theatre Program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). NAST is a member of the Council of Arts Accrediting Associations (CAAA), which, besides NAST, includes the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, the National Association of Schools of Music, and the National Association of Schools of Dance.

NAST accreditation assures that every degree option offered by WTAMU Theatre meets rigorous academic and artistic standards.  The NAST website {link} provides detailed information about the standards and the process for obtaining accreditation, as well as a complete listing of accredited programs. 

WTAMU Theatre is 1 of 186 accredited theatre programs in the United States, 1 of 10 nationally accredited theatre programs in the State of Texas, and the only nationally accredited theatre program in the Texas A&M University System.
