TAMU System Colleges of Education: Las Clavelinas Initiative

This program offers a unique opportunity for TAMU System faculty and students to participate in service leadership and meaningful research in a rural community situated in central Mexico, near the city of San Miguel de Allende. In addition to the service and field experience, students and faculty will engage in activities designed to increase their knowledge of Mexican culture and increase their cross-cultural competence.

Program Highlights:

  • Program location: San Miguel de Allende, Mexico
  • Areas of Study: Education, Psychology, Sociology/Social Work, Political Science, and Criminal Justice.
  • Estimated cost of program: $2,500
  • Program fee includes: airfare, accommodation, meals (three per day), required field trips, local transportation, insurance.
  • Program fee does not include: course tuition and fees, personal spending money, passport fees.

Go Global: Italy

Students participating in this program will visit the original schools of Reggio Emilia and Montessori and will experience methodology first hand and add to the theoretical foundations they learn in the classrooms.
