Major in Studio Art (Major Code: 207)

Requirements

Studio art majors may choose their major and minor from the areas of drawing, painting, printmaking, graphic design, sculpture, metalsmithing/jewelry, ceramics, glass and computer art. All studio majors are required to have a one- or two-person, one-week show featuring work from their 4394 project. The student will be responsible for design and mounting of the show, arrangements for publicity through the University’s Office of Communication Services and The Prairie student newspaper, and handling invitations. An opening reception is optional. Each student will undergo a critique of the show by a committee of three or more persons (the student’s faculty adviser and at least two additional faculty members from the department).

Each graphic design major is required to have a portfolio review and may, with departmental approval, mount an exhibition (one or more persons) if the student desires. The review committee will consist of the student’s major adviser and at least one departmental faculty member chosen by the student. If the student chooses to exhibit, the same guidelines will be followed as for studio major exhibits.
