Dr. Vartabedian joined the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities in 2013. She received a B.A. and M.A. in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2004 and 2007 respectively, and received a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Language from the University of Texas at Austin in 2012.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Vartabedian teaches Persuasion, Rhetorical Criticism, Advance Performance, Interpersonal Communication, and Professional Communication.
Dr. Vartabedian has been published in Text and Performance Quarterly and has also authored chapters on ceremonial speaking and style in professional communication textbooks and rhetorical theory textbooks.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Vartabedian’s research interests include the rhetoric of place and space with a focus on public memory, representation, and political change.
Dr. Vartabedian loves travel, hiking, running, and finding ways to avoid running.
