 | Sarah Carthel Assistant Volleyball Coach/Sports and Exercise Science Lecturer Office: Fieldhouse Email: scarthel@wtamu.edu Phone: 806-651-2696 Professional Profile Carthel is an assistant volleyball coach for the Lady Buff volleyball team and is a lecturer in the Department of Sports and Exercise Sciences. She attended West Texas A&M and played volleyball from 1997-1999. After graduating, Carthel played five years of professional volleyball for the USA Women's National Volleyball Team, the United States Professional Volleyball League and the Professional Volleyball League in Puerto Rico. Before joining the WTAMU volleyball staff, Carthel coached at Abilene Christian University from 2002-2005. Teaching and Related Service Carthel runs a number of volleyball camps each summer. Research and Creative Activity Carthel monitors the eating habits of her volleyball team and continues to research nutrition. She provides information on nutrition her team can use throughout their lives. Personal Sketch Carthel is married to Colby Carthel, who is the defensive coordinator for the West Texas A&M Football team. They reside in Canyon and enjoy outdoor activities—especially hiking, hunting and fishing. | | |
