William R. "Ron" Hulsey

Professional Profile After graduating from WTAMU with his bachelor's and master's degrees, Hulsey served as head athletic trainer for the Buffs and Lady Buffs from 1999 to 2002. From 2002-2007, he was employed in Amarillo as a sports medicine outreach athletic trainer. In that role, he helped provide sports medicine and athletic training services to high school, collegiate and professional athletes throughout the Texas Panhandle.
Teaching and Related Service Hulsey is the head athletic trainer for the WTAMU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. He oversees a staff of three other full-time certified athletic trainers and five graduate assistants. The athletic training staff strives daily to serve the student athletes of WTAMU with the highest quality athletic health care available. He also teaches athletic training courses and serves as an approved clinical instructor in the CAATE accredited athletic training education program in the Department of Sports and Exercise Science.
Research and Creative Activity
Hulsey is the current president of the Texas Panhandle Sports Medicine Society and is on the board of the local chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also serves as an associate with the Justin Sports Medicine Team, providing athletic training services to professional cowboys at local PRCA rodeos.
Hulsey and his wife Sharrise have been residents of Canyon since their marriage in 1996. He enjoys traveling, sports, movies and spending time with his wife and their pet Blue Heeler, Solo. Sharrise, a WTAMU alumna, works part-time as an optometric technician and is a NSCA certified personal trainer.
