Professional Profile

Haasl joined the Department of Sports and Exercise Sciences in 2005. He received a B.S. in health, physical education and recreation from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in 1987 and a M.A. in education from Northeastern State University in 1991.

Teaching and Related Service

Haasl teaches courses in pedagogy including Organization and Planning Techniques and Applied Instruction in Physical Activity.  Haasl also teaches courses in sport management including Organization and Administration of Sport as well as Theory and Practice of Strength Training and Conditioning.

Haasl also serves as an adviser to more than 60 advisees who are majoring sports and exercise sciences.

Research and Creative Activity

Haasl's research interests include all areas of sport management and he is currently directing the curriculum development for a master's degree in sport management.  This degree program is on track to begin in the fall of 2008.

Personal Sketch

Haasl lives in southwest Amarillo with his wife Lora. Lora is the supervisor of IITL for West Texas A&M University.  Their daughter, Terra, is in her second year of dental school in Phoenix, AZ.  Rick has a passion for disciplism.  He also enjoys sports, traveling and working at home.
