Rebecca Wilcox, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of English Office: Classroom Center, Room 319B Email: rwilcox@wtamu.edu Phone: 806-651-2483 Professional Profile Dr. Wilcox completed her Bachelor’s degree in literature from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1998. She went on to study English with an emphasis in medieval literature at the University of Texas at Austin, earning her Master’s degree in 2003 and her Ph.D. in 2009. She joined WTAMU’s English department in 2008. Teaching and Related Service Dr. Wilcox teaches classes on Chaucer, medieval literature, women writers, and freshman composition. She is a faculty sponsor of Sigma Tau Delta, an international English honors organization. Research and Creative Activity Dr. Wilcox’s research interests include the Crusades, medieval European perceptions of race and ethnicity, and medieval popular literary culture. She is currently working on a translation of the old French crusade romance Saladin into modern English. She regularly organizes conference sessions for the International Congress on Medieval Studies in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Personal Sketch Dr. Wilcox enjoys hiking, Seido karate, and reading. In addition to medieval literature, Dr. Wilcox especially enjoys reading science fiction and mysteries. She has a husband, Darrell, with whom she shares five cats. |
