Registration: Registration is limited to 32 students per school. Complete quartets are preferred. Fees: Registration fee is $25 per student, and includes rehearsal with the clinician and cafeteria lunch. Fees should be submitted with the application, and are not refundable. Checks can be made to WTAMU Music. Music is not provided but can be purchased at Tarpley Music. Deadline Information: Deadline for reservations is September 18, 2009. Late registration will be accepted only if space is available. Should all spaces be filled before the deadline, registrants will be placed on a postmark-prioritized waiting list. Dress Code: Students will be expected to follow their school dress code. Students wearing clothes that attract undue attention will be sent to change clothes. This includes “Daisy Duke” shorts, crop tops, bare shoulders or midriffs. Concert dress will be your school’s choir uniform. Call the Ensembles Office for more information - 806-651-2854 Dr. Bradly Allred Meet Our Clinician Dr. Brady Allred Professor of Music and Director of Choral Studies at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Dr. Brady R. Allred has developed “an international reputation for excellence.” The first recipient of the newly established Ellen Neilson Barnes Presidential Endowed Chair for Choral Studies at the University of Utah, he is also the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Salt Lake Choral Artists, a critically acclaimed community choir of 200 singers. Known around the world for “exquisite choral singing,” Dr. Allred’s ensembles have been invited to participate in major festivals and have received honors including the Grand Prize at the Florilège Vocal de Tours International Choir Competition, First Prize at the Marktoberdorf International Chamber Choir Competition, and Grand Prize at the European Grand Prix International Choral Competition. Prior to his work in Utah, Dr. Allred was the Music Director and Conductor for the Butler Symphony Orchestra, Director of Choral Activities at Duquesne University, and Artistic Director and Conductor of the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh. He has been a guest conductor for symphonies in Italy, Poland, and Russia, and the Salt Lake Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Dr. Allred earned his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting degrees from the Eastman School of Music, and his Bachelor of Music degree in Theory/Composition and Flute Performance from Brigham Young University. He and his wife, soprano Carol Ann Allred, have four daughters and make their home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Joni Jensen Meet Our Clinicians Dr. Joni Jensen is the Coordinator of Choral Activities and an Assistant Professor of voice and at Texas Woman’s University. She received both her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy and her Master’s degree in Choral Conducting from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. While at BYU, she studied under renowned conductors and arrangers Dr. Mack Wilberg and Dr. Ronald Staheli. Her studies continued at the University of Arizona, where she received her DMA in Choral Conducting with a minor in vocal performance. Dr. Jensen specializes in university ensembles and women’s choirs. Her success as a conductor has led to many invitations to conduct church and community choirs, adjudicate for competitions, and present clinics. She has performed solos in both operatic and concert events, and has particular expertise in baroque music and style. Rod Zeman Rod Zeman is beginning his thirteenth year of teaching, and his third year as the choir director at Crockett Middle School in Amarillo, Texas. During the past two years, his program has expanded from 200 to 400 students, including 130 seventh- and eighth-grade boys. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music from West Texas A&M University, where he sang under the direction of Hugh Sanders and Rene Clausen. Before moving to Crockett, he taught choir at Tascosa High School, Bonham Middle School, and Dumas Junior High School. Additionally, Rod has been the associate artistic director for the Amarillo Youth Choirs for seven years. This is Rod’s third year to direct the JH/MS Panhandle Honor Choir. He is a member of TCDA, TMEA, and TMAA.
