Professional Profile

Dr. Frick joined the College of Education and Social Sciences in August, 2009. She received a B.A. in Psychology from UNC-Greensboro in 1993, a M.S. in Community Counseling from Western Carolina University in 1997, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Virginia in 2009.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Frick teaches courses in the Counseling program within the Department of Education. She teaches a variety of counseling courses for graduate students pursuing licensure in professional counseling, including Assessment in Professional Counseling, Counseling Techniques, Group counseling, Practicum in Counseling, Strategies in Marriage and Family therapy, and Vocational Counseling.

Dr. Frick has presented at local, state, regional, and national counseling conferences on topics such as interventions for couples in crisis, meeting the mental health needs of older adults, addressing counselor burnout, and group counseling for managing anxiety.

Dr. Frick is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, a National Certified Counselor, and an Approved Clinical Supervisor. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, Association for Specialists in Group Work, and the International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors. She also is a member of the international counseling honor society, Chi Sigma Iota.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Frick’s research interests include counselor supervision, counselor burnout, and marriage and family issues. 

Personal Sketch

Dr. Frick lives in Amarillo with her husband, Marty, and their two cats, Gizmo and Gracie. She and her husband enjoy traveling, listening to music, dancing, watching college football and basketball, and spending time with family and friends.
