Professional Profile

Dr. Rhoades began teaching at WTAMU in fall 2007. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in history from West Virginia University and his doctorate in early American history from Syracuse University. Before moving to Texas, Dr. Rhoades taught at West Virginia University—Parkersburg.

Teaching and Related Service

In addition to the U. S. History survey sequence, Dr. Rhoades teaches courses on Colonial America and the era of the American Revolution.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Rhoades's research interests focus on Native American-European relations in America through 1840 and the military and naval history of early America up to the War of 1812. Currently, he is revising a book manuscript tentatively titled "Long Knives and the Longhouse" for publication.
