She received a B.S. in engineering mathematics from West Texas A&M University in 1993 and a M.S. in mathematics from West Texas A&M University in 1995. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in science and mathematics education from Texas Tech University. Teaching and Related Service Cruz teaches the mathematics content courses for elementary education majors. She teaches courses like the Fundamentals of Mathematics I, Fundamentals of Mathematics II and Computer Mathematics I. Cruz has presented numerous times at the Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching (CAMT) and the Panhandle Area Mathematics and Science Conference. She has also been involved in several grants that provide professional development for in-service teachers. Cruz is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the Texas Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Research and Creative Activity Cruz's research interests include the teaching of mathematics to pre-service teachers, the integration of technology in mathematics education and multiculturalism in mathematics education. |
