He received a B.S. and M.A. degree in criminology and corrections from Sam Houston State University. He received his Ph.D. in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University in 1983. Teaching and Related Service Dr. Price teaches courses in corrections, criminology, ethics, sociology, women studies and capital punishment.
Dr. Price is a member of the Texas Corrections Association and the American Correctional Association. Research and Creative Activity Dr. Price's research interests include capital punishment and the Texas prison system. Dr. Price recently published an article on dangerousness among capital murderers in Texas. He also published a study that compared capital punishment in Texas with the state of California. Dr. Price's current research project involves examining jury decision making in capital murder trials. He and two colleagues have completed a preliminary study and have applied for a federal grant to continue their research. Personal Sketch Dr. Price is enjoying his life after retiring from the Texas prison system. He lives in Amarillo with his wife Runae. He regularly enjoys the company of his six granddaughters. Three of his children have graduated from West Texas A&M University. |
