Dr. Kunz is a professor of sociology at West Texas A&M University where she has taught since 1993. She received her B.S. in Spanish and sociology, her M.S. in sociology and her Ph.D. in sociology with an emphasis on family and stratification, all from Brigham Young University.
Dr. Kunz regularly teaches Introduction to Sociology, Racial and Ethnic Minorities, Contemporary Families, Sociology of Gender, Statistics for the Social Sciences and Research Methods. She is a member of the honors and graduate faculty at WTAMU.
Dr. Kunz has received numerous awards for teaching and has been an international visiting professor several times at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada for the Department of Sociology. She is a member of several national and international associations and has held several offices.
Dr. Kunz has also served as a consultant and facilitator for various governmental and independent agencies. She is actively involved in the community and mentoring. She was a co-facilitator of the Pantex Plant Citizens' Advisory Board (PPCAB) for five years.
Dr. Kunz is involved in many ongoing research projects with students.
She has made several scholarly presentations on the national and international level and her many articles and publications have appeared in numerous academic journals and books. She is the author of several books and monographs.
Her areas of specialization include family, stratification and organizations. She has a special interest on the effects of divorce on children.
Dr. Kunz has lived in Wyoming, Michigan, Utah, Texas, Uruguay and Canada. She enjoys a good laugh, her boyfriend, family get-togethers and going out with friends. Dr. Kunz can also speak Spanish.
Dr. Kunz has been to over 30 countries and 49 of the 50 states. Some of her favorite places include Macchu Picchu, Jerusalem, the Norwegian fjords, the Great Barrier Reef, Delicate Arch, Lake Moraine, the Arctic Circle, Montevideo, Mount Timpanogos, and Taipei. Most of all she loves the people of these nations and places.
Dr. Kunz plays the piano. She enjoys the outdoors, misses the mountains, loves the sea and snorkeling and enjoys the openness of the plains. She likes to ride mountain bikes and ski. She collects clipper ships, old books and jokes. She likes to spend time with her awesome nieces and nephews. She is a favorite aunt!
