Professional Profile

Dr. Yarbrough joined the College of Agriculture, Science and Engineering in 2014. He received a B.S. in Chemistry from Arkansas Tech University in 1998, a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Texas A&M University in 2003. Following this he completed a post-doctoral experience at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. In 2005, he joined Sealed Air Corporation’s (Cryovac) Food Packaging Division as Senior Research Chemist in the Materials & Packaging Research Group in Duncan, South Carolina. Dr. Yarbrough spent approximately 8.5 years in the plastics industry before joining West Texas A&M University.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Yarbrough teaches Introductory and General Chemistry I & II. Additionally, he is the author of several publications in various prestigious and well-respected journals, including the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Macromolecules, Organometallics, Inorganic Chemistry as well as the European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry. Dr. Yarbrough is co-inventor on several US and international patents as well. Dr. Yarbrough is a member of the American Chemical Society and the Society of Plastics Engineers.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Yarbrough’s research interests are at the interface of organometallic and polymer chemistry. His work is directed toward the design of new organometallic catalysts used in the synthesis of new or existing functional polymers.

Personal Sketch

Dr. Yarbrough lives with his wife Jillian and their three children, Jason, Julia and Jamie. He enjoys reading, sports (especially football) and boating.
