Dr. Jeffreys joined the College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 2005. She received a B.S. in nursing from West Texas A&M University in 1997, an M.S.N. in 2002, and a DNP in 2009. She is licensed as an advance practice nurse and certified as a family nurse practitioner.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Jeffreys teaches advanced health assessment, adult/geriatric course and clinical component, women and infant health course and clinical component, pediatric health course and clinical component, and an online advanced issues course for nurse practitioners.
Dr. Jeffreys has authored a publication involving a community diabetes education program and continues to be involved in multiple community education projects. Dr. Jeffreys also speaks on several health topics for community events and special interest groups. Dr. Jeffreys is actively involved in legislation for advanced nursing practice and has provided expert testimony before the Public Health Committee in the House of Representatives.
Dr. Jeffreys has served as vice president for the Panhandle Nurse Practitioner Association, and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American College of Nurse Practitioners, and the National Organization for Nurse Practitioner Faculty.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Jeffreys is interested in health promotion and disease prevention and actively practices as a nurse practitioner in the Family Medicine Center of Canyon. Dr. Jeffreys completed advanced fellowships in her doctoral studies including sports medicine and dermatology. Dr. Jeffreys was instrumental in beginning the Skin Care Center, the only aesthetic medicine center in Canyon dedicated to the education, prevention, and treatment of skin concerns.
Personal Sketch
Dr. Jeffreys enjoys spending time with her husband and four children in the rural community of Bushland, Texas. Dr. Jeffreys and her family enjoy participating in stock shows and rodeo events, particularly any timed / roping events. Dr. Jeffreys also enjoys running and practicing various sports year around with her athletic children.
