Loneragan, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Animal Science Office: Killgore Research Center, Room 182 Email: gloneragan@wtamu.edu Phone: 806-651-2287 Professional Profile Dr. Loneragan joined the Department of Agricultural Sciences at WTAMU in 2002. He received his veterinary degree from the University of Sydney, Australia, in 1994 and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Colorado State University in 1998 and 2001, respectively. Teaching and Related Service Dr. Loneragan teaches two graduate-level classes in epidemiology. The first covers principles of this science and the second puts these principles into practice using applied methods. He also teaches components of classes in the undergraduate animal science major. Research and Creative Activity Dr. Loneragan's appointment at West Texas A&M University is geared toward research. He has secured in excess of $3 million in research awards. The focus of his research is in two main areas: food safety and animal health. The former occupies most of his time and is split between mitigation of E. coli O157 in cattle and understanding the ecology of antimicrobial drug resistance. Since arriving at WTAMU, he has published in excess of 20 peer-reviewed manuscripts and been invited to present across the U.S. and in four other countries.
