WHAT’S HAPPENIN’ AT THE FLUTE SHINDIG?
Action-packed days of flute activities for all ages and all levels of flutists and teachers.
This means BEGINNERS, JR. HIGH/MIDDLE, HIGH SCHOOL, UNDERGRADS, GRAD STUDENTS, ADULTS (amateur & professional), and BAND DIRECTORS (flutists and non-flutists!)
The only “requirement” is a DESIRE to learn and improve!


WHEN IS THE FLUTE SHINDIG?
June 13-17, 2018
Registration & opening concert on the evening of Wednesday, June 13;
Final concert at 2:30 pm on Sunday, June 17.


IF I COMMUTE, WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF THE FLUTE SHINDIG?
Wednesday, June 13: You will need to arrive between 5:00-7:00 pm
Thursday, Friday & Saturday (June 14-16): 9:30 am-5:30 pm (approximate hours)
Sunday, June 17: arrive at 10:00 am; FINAL CONCERT is at 2:30 pm


WHERE IS THE FLUTE SHINDIG?
We will be using the beautiful, state-of-the-art facilities at the School of Music on the campus of West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) in Canyon, Texas.

WHAT IS THE COST OF THE FLUTE SHINDIG?
Tuition: $200
Room & Board (optional): $200 (double occupancy in Centennial Hall)


WHO CAN ATTEND THE FLUTE SHINDIG?
ALL ages and ALL levels of flutists are welcome - beginners through advanced, instructors and band directors, too!

WHAT WILL YOU EXPERIENCE AT THE FLUTE SHINDIG?
Masterclasses, recitals, interactive classes on flute fundamentals, rhythm, preparing for auditions, pedagogy, important repertoire from UIL list, advanced repertoire, orchestral excerpts, piccolo, technology, performance tips, basic flute repair, relaxation, nutrition, yoga, Q&A sessions and MUCH MORE!

WHO IS TEACHING AT THE FLUTE SHINDIG?
Helen Blackburn, Yvonne Franklin Endowed Chair Artist Teacher of Flute, along with phenomenal master flutists from across the US will be leading this fun-filled shindig! These include: Ebonee Thomas, Dallas, TX; Sally Turk, retired flute professor, WTAMU; Cariann Holgers, Amarillo, TX; Cindy Bulloch, retired Honor Band Director; and others!
